Fitzroy Island Ferry 11am - 5pm Day Trip - Departs Cairns

Fitzroy Island itself was stunning, however the journey to and from was less than ideal. The ferry on the way to the island was quite old and run down, and about 20 minutes into our journey there were some kind of engine troubles and the boat stopped moving and we were floating (going nowhere) for quite a while. We eventually got going again, however arrived way later than planned to the island.
The return ferry experience however was worse as it didn’t show! - In fact we saw it being towed away in the distance (broken down again). All passengers were left stranded on the pier in very hot weather with no shade.
We finally boarded another boat well over an hour late.
While the staff on the ground were doing their best, and I understand that issues do happen, it was very disappointing that no compensation was offered to passengers.
Would not book with this company again.
